Resourcing for a major project bid

In mid-2003, Incert Recruitment was approached by a large consortium bidding for an MOD contract. They required, at short notice, a team of individuals with very specific skills, who were recently ex-Services, to audit and advise on the Outline Proposal stage of the bid.

The multi-million-pound contract, which will be awarded by the MOD to the successful consortium in late 2004, is being contested by five groups of companies.

Competition is inevitably fierce and our client is determined to succeed at the ISOP (Invitation to Submit Outline Proposal) stage, thus giving them a genuine chance to win the contract. Their previous experience of MOD contracts told them that having timely and accurate advice on the customer's (ie MOD's) perspective is essential.

Incert Recruitment were tasked with finding four individuals with specialised skills - procurement, human resources, logistics, technical architecture, battle space and operations - to undertake an initial piece of work at a crucial stage in the process. Time was short, as the financial authority to hire this team had been delayed.

The team were sourced using a combination of contacts, associates, partnerships and advertising, introduced to the opportunity, contracted through Incert Recruitment and started work 10 days after the initial request was received.

Most importantly, the opinion of our client is that the Incert-sourced team made a significant contribution to the submission, which was delivered on time and in such a manner as to ensure that they were successful at that particular stage of the bid process.

The team were immediately put on standby to reconvene and continue working with the consortium on the next stage.
