CASE STUDY
The UN has been operating in Afghanistan since the war there in 1999, in a role to attempt the long-term stabilising of the country. This operation has experienced multiple complexities and staffing the UN in Afghanistan with appropriately skilled and experience personnel has not always been easy.
Having been identified through contacts, in 2002, Incert Recruitment was asked by the UN's administrative organisation in Afghanistan to find people who would be suitable for various roles in the country.
Having established the exact requirements, we were able to pull together a list of individuals who precisely met the needs of the UN. Following interviews and detailed reporting, the suitable candidates were submitted to the UN organisation, who conducted their interviews in Dubai.
All administrative processes were handled by Incert Recruitment, and after the selection of two individuals, contracts were drawn up and deployment to Afghanistan took place.
Although the individuals were on UN contracts, Incert maintained close contact, ensuring that they were properly looked after and resolving administrative issues as they arose. Communications to Afghanistan are sometimes fragile, making the support offered by Incert particularly important to the staff being deployed.
The individuals who filled these roles have assisted the UN in Afghanistan accomplish some huge challenges.
Both are ex-Army, and have brought a combination of operational experience, a can-do and problem-solving attitude and administrative skills to an organisation which does not always have the luxury of working in an ordered and structured environment.
As a result, Incert has subsequently deployed additional personnel and has established a strong relationship with the UN in Afghanistan.
As the UN themselves put it: "Your people have made an invaluable contribution. Thank you for reacting so quickly, in difficult circumstances".
